The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) is currently studying a request made by local mobile operator Warid Telecom to launch 4G services through its current spectrum in the 1,800 MHz band, Daily Times reports. The operator did not participate in the recent spectrum auction. According to official sources, Warid Telecom only needs a commencement certificate from the PTA to roll out 4G services across Pakistan. Local mobile operators Mobilink, Telenor, and Ufone recently obtained licences for the provision of 3G services while mobile company Zong obtained spectrum for 3G and 4G services.
